Petrochemical Pumps

What are they?

A petrochemical pump is used to extract or move petrochemicals. Petrochemicals are similar to other types of petroleum-based products in that they generally have high viscosities, and may be toxic, volatile, or corrosive. Thus, the pump generally needs to be a heavy-duty piece of machinery that is capable of generating high rates of flow and pressure, and is able to safeguard against catastrophic leaks.

Different types

There are different types of petrochemical pumps used throughout the process of refining, processing, and moving petrochemicals. Several different types might be used in the complicated process of refining crude oil, including: piston pumps, diaphragm pumps, magnetic drive pumps and API pumps to name a few.

Where are they used?

Petrochemicals are used to create agricultural products, as well as industrial chemicals, plastics, lubricants, pharmaceutical substances, adhesives, inks, paints, and many other types of materials – and wherever these substances are produced, petrochemical pumps are a major component of the process.
