Chemical Pumps Page 1

Chemical transfer & dosing pumps for aggressive fluids

Chemical pumps are designed and manufactured specifically to ensure that they are able to handle aggressive and corrosive liquids. Often chemical resistant pumps are manufactured from stainless steel or plastic, but it is always important that it is checked that the materials of construction are compatible with the specific chemical composition of the fluid being handled within the process. For example, some chemical transfer pumps are only required for the pumping of a less corrosive liquid such as a cosmetic product. However, some chemicals are much more aggressive or hazardous and need to be built to stricter criteria.

The performance requirements of a chemical pump very much depends on the process at hand, for example they may be required to transfer large volumes or they may be a chemical metering pump required to dose very specific quantities. Chemical process pumps are often centrifugal or chemical magnetic drive pumps as the absence of their seal limits the chance of leaking of aggressive fluids.
