This is supposed to be a utility transfer pump -- that means it works to transfer a liquid from point A to point B. While it has a lovely strong motor for pumping, its utility is severely undermined by the lack of an on/off switch. This means that as soon as the thing is connected to power, the motor is engaged. ... Now this wouldn't *necessarily* be a problem, except for the fact that running the motor dry will kill the motor. So -- you have to be absolutely sure that the input hose is fully submerged in liquid (and doesn't move) while you plug it in AND that you can unplug it just when all the liquid has been transferred (and no later). For my purposes, this is a useless 'utility' pump.
